We know you’ve come to Seville to make the most out of your experience as a student abroad. Talk about giving backto your host community, learning through experience, enhancing your resumé, and going back home in December with wonderful stories to tell. If this appeals to you, there’s a big chance you may want to become a volunteer at a local school through CIEE Seville’s CULTURE AND LANGUAGE ASSISTANTS it English program.

During the past Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters, 125 CIEE studentsin Seville (21% of the total) were CULTURE AND LANGUAGE ASSISTANTS, included KHADIJA KHAN below (click here to see a brief video about her experience), who volunteered with Fifth Graders at Public School Huerta de Santa Marina. Khadija supported the instructor of the class she was assigned to as a native speaker of English, while the teacher guided her in conducting activities and exercises to carry out with the kids: songs, games and stories through which Khadija illustrated the culture, history and traditions of the U.S. and taught them English.

As a CULTURE AND LANGUAGE ASSISTANT, you will spend some 3 hours per week (or more if you can fit into your schedule), usually participating in a couple of morning class sessions every week (afternoon sessions are sometimes possible).

If you are interested, join one of our brief ORIENTATION SESSIONS.

In the meantime, you can send us your questions by writing to the CLA program coordinator Fran Pascualfpascual@ciee.org
